Brand New Star Wars Trailer Released in Korea

This week, Lucasfilm released a new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars film that has fans talking. The trailer included a brief appearance of the new villainous group known as The First Order that will be the main antagonist in the film.

A lot of the footage is stuff we’ve already seen, but it opens in a snowy landscape with several thousand storm troopers and officers grouped before a stage waiting for their orders. Friggin awesome if you ask me!

Sort of reminiscent of Nazi Germany, these endlessly numbered storm troopers are sure to pose a threat to the heroes of the film.

Check out the trailer above and let me know what you think of it below!

5 Strongest Signs Of Aliens & Alien Life

I remember as a kid driving with my dad down a gravel road in the country on a road trip we took to Branson, MO. The night was pretty typical with nothing too out-of-the-ordinary happening, I remember we were talking about the softball game that I was going to play the next night and how focused I needed to be. Suddenly, we both looked up and saw a big, bright yellow football-shaped object in the sky with what appeared to be exhaust coming out of the back end of it. The object danced about for a couple of seconds and then suddenly vanished along with the exhaust. My dad and I looked at each other and exchanged looks that said, “Did you see that?”

I’ll never forget that day…it made me wonder what sorts of things are out there that we just haven’t found out about yet. Did I see an alien ship? Was it a government controlled aircraft? Did I imagine it? These questions still race through my mind to this day whenever I think about that day.

Martin Freeman Cast In Captain America: Civil War

Martin Freeman
Last month it was announced that Martin Freeman, most famous for playing Dr. John Watson in the British crime drama Sherlock TV series and Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit film franchise, was cast to play a part in the upcoming Marvel film Captain America: Civil War.

Exactly what his role will be in the film has yet to be announced, which has caused much speculation in the online world as to who he might be cast as. One common idea is that he will play the government interrogator Everret K. Ross who interrogates superheros to see if they are a threat or not. Fans believe that Freeman will reprise this role in the upcoming film Marvel film Black Panther which will further explore the relationship between Ross and Black Panther (more on this here).

My Thoughts

I love Martin Freeman as an actor. From his role as Tim in the UK version of The Office to his role as John Watson in Sherlock and, of course, as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, Freeman shows his versatility as an actor by nailing multiple roles that are all completely different. For that reason, I’m super excited to see what Freeman will bring to the table in this new Marvel film. While I have my own ideas of who Freeman will play, regardless of who it will be I am thrilled to learn he’ll be making an appearance as a (possibly) recurring character in the Marvel film series. The film is set to be released next year, so only time will tell before we finally find out who Martin Freeman will be playing in Captain America: Civil War.

Captain America: Civil War Logo Revealed!

Captain America: Civil War Logo Revealed

Jeremy Renner recently post on his Instagram page a photo that apparently reveals the logo for the upcoming film Captain America: Civil War. The photo had fans of the Marvel series overjoyed and heightened their enthusiasm as they wait anxiously for the next film to be released.

The much hyped third installment of the Captain America film series will be coming out May 6th, 2016 and will star an ensemble cast featuring  Chris EvansScarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr.Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Rudd. The film will take place after the events of Avengers 2: Age of Ultron and, according to Wikipedia, will have “politicians look to form a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to call in the Avengers…”

My Thoughts

I am a huge fan of the Marvel films, particularly the Iron Man films, so I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this film. The film will star the new formation of the Avengers, War Machine taking the place of Iron Man, Vision taking the place of Thor, Falcon taking the place of Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch taking the place of the Hulk. I find this roster compelling as it’s still got the mix of “normals” and “otherworldlies” but is still very different from the original roster. I’m personally excited to see Vision in action more as he’s a really cool character in my opinion.

What Are Your Thoughts?

What do you think of the new logo? Also, what do you think of the new roster of the Avengers? Will it be better than the first? Write your thoughts below!

Will Jared Leto’s Joker Suck? I Don’t Think So.

jaredletoWe first saw previews of Jared Leto’s version of the Joker for the new DC comics film Suicide Squad last April and all I have to say is wow! Judging from the photos released this version of the Joker looks really menacing! Though to many fans Leto’s Joker looks promising, some fans are up in arms over the Joker’s “punk” appearance and all his tattoos. The question is, will this version of the Joker hold up to the previous versions of the character played by Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger? I think it will, though I do think that it’ll be tough shoes to fill given how impressive Ledger’s version of the Joker was in the 2008 film The Dark Knight.

Jared Leto has had success as an actor with roles like the heroin-addicted Harry Goldfarb from Requiem For a Dream and John Lennon’s killer, Mark David Chapman, in Chapter 27. Leto is probably best known, though, as the lead singer of the rock band 30 Seconds to Mars.

Though Leto does not have quite the acting background as, say, Heath Ledger did, Leto’s performances as a serious actor do make his casting as the Joker look promising. Leto showed dedication to his role as Mark David Chapman by putting on weight to look like him and studying his movements, similar to how Ledger prepared for his role as the Joker by locking himself in a hotel room and coming up with how the character would act.

What Do You Think?

Will Jared Leto’s performance as the Joker overshadow Ledger’s performance or will it suck? Write your thoughts below!

Ant-Man: Paul Rudd as a Superhero?

Ant-ManWhen I went to see the new Avengers movie, I remember wondering what upcoming films I’d see during the previews. Honestly, seeing the upcoming film previews beforehand is one of my favorite parts of going to the movie theater.

Pretty soon after taking a sip from my dixie water cup (they barely give you any water at the movie theaters…it’s like they MAKE you buy a drink or bottled water otherwise you’re left with next to nothing in your cup) I looked up at the screen to see one of my favorite actors: Paul Rudd! I thought to myself, “What is Paul Rudd doing in a Marvel movie?

Then he donned the Ant-Man suit.

And I thought nooo…are you serious? Paul Rudd’s gonna be a superhero! Awesome!

Needless to say I was ecstatic.

My Thoughts

I’m always curious as to what new superheroes Marvel will add to the roster for the Avengers films, and I’m definitely pleased to see Ant-Man in action! The trailer looks incredible, and I’m actually looking forward to seeing Paul Rudd play as a superhero.

Paul Rudd has always been one of my favorite comedic actors. From the Anchorman films to I Love You, Man, his delivery and ability to improvise makes him a brilliant comedian. I personally think actors who are naturally funny and have starred in comedies end up making great superhero movies.

Although this isn’t always the case, there have been some great examples such as Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool in X-Men Origins and, of course, the naturally funny Robert Downey Jr. donning the Iron Man suit for the Ironman films.

What Are Your Thoughts?

Are you looking forward to the new Ant-Man film? Do you think Paul Rudd will nail the role or will it end up being a flop? Write your thoughts below!

Avengers: Age of Ultron Is AMAZING!

avengers_age_of_ultron_2015_movie-wide

***THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS SO WATCH OUT!***

If you still haven’t seen Avengers: Age of Ultron I suggest you crawl out from the rock you’ve been living under and get your butt to the theaters! This movie is amazing!

What I Loved About the Film

Robert Downey Jr. is the man, and I love his characterization of Tony Stark in the Marvel films. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, you really get to see the hilarity of Stark in action. From the opening scene where he makes fun of Captain America for asking him to “watch his language” to his “I’m sorry” while fighting the Hulk, Iron Man truly shines in this film.

Another one of my favorites from the film is Quicksilver. Played by newcomer Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Quicksilver has the ability to run really, really fast. He also has a pretty awesome Russian accent in the film, which I loved. Unfortunately, Quicksilver’s screen time was cut short as he was killed after saving Hawkeye and a small child towards the end of the film. It’s possible that Johnson was only signed on for one film, which is why they had to kill him off. Who knows, though? Maybe he will return due to popular demand?

Ultron was pretty awesome too. Voiced by James Spader, the character had somewhat of a weird personality. A bit comical at times, and yet very serious in his demeanor. To me, he seemed a bit unstable as he was exposed to so much chaos that humanity has brought over the years, which is why he felt driven to “purge the planet”. The problem, of course, was that he focused entirely on the negative aspects of humanity while disregarding all the good that humanity has done. So the real question is, are we humans truly the problem or are we the solution to suffering? This struggle is best represented by the conversation towards the end of the film between he and Vision, who brings balance to the equation by focusing more on the good of humanity rather than the evil.

What Are Your Thoughts?

Do you think this second installment of Avengers was better than the first? Do you agree more with Ultron or with Vision? Write your thoughts below!

A New Dragon Ball Z Series?! My Life Is Officially Made!

Dragon Ball Super

On April 28th, 2015, nerds everywhere like myself rejoiced as it was officially announced that the Dragon Ball franchise would receive a brand new series: Dragon Ball Super. The best part? Akira Toriyama, the original creator of the Dragon Ball manga, is in charge this time. This is huge for Dragon Ball fans everywhere after the lackluster Dragon Ball GT which Akira Toriyama had little to do with. After the latest Dragon Ball Z movies having been released in 2013 and 2015 respectively, almost ten years since the original run of Dragon Ball Z, this brand new series is truly a dream come true for die-hard fans who have waited patiently (and sometimes impatiently) for new Dragon Ball Z releases.

The series is set to be released in Japan in July 2015, and no word yet as to when it will be released in America.

My Thoughts?

If you can’t tell already, I am a HUGE Dragon Ball Z fan, so when I heard that a new series was set to be released I was ecstatic. Growing up, I remember coming home from school and switching on the TV to channel 26 (Cartoon Network) at 3:30 PM when they used to air Dragon Ball Z on Toonami, a set block of time where they showed several anime shows dubbed in English. While shows like Yu Yu Hakasho and Sailor Moon were cool, I always favored Dragon Ball Z just because of the show’s unique story line and the powers the characters had. I mean, what’s cooler than being able to shoot fire balls out of your hands and flying? Dragon Ball Z will probably stay my favorite cartoon show of all time and my second TV show of all time (the first being Breaking Bad. Yup, I’m one of those people!)

What Are Your Thoughts?

Are you a fan of Dragon Ball Z? What’s your take on this new series? Do you think it will fair better than Dragon Ball GT did? Write your thoughts below!

Jurassic World: The Greatest Jurassic Park Film to Date or the Biggest Flop?

Jurassic World

Jurassic World, the latest in the Jurassic Park film series, is set to be released June 12, 2015. The film will star Chris Pratt, who came to fame recently with his starring role as Star Lord in the film Guardians of the Galaxy, Bryce Dallas HowardVincent D’Onofrio, and Ty Simpkins. This is the first film in over ten years since the last installment, Jurassic Park 3, back in 2001. The film looks promising judging by the trailer, but with its director, Colin Trevorrow, being fairly new having only directed a few other films prior to this one could this highly anticipated film end up being a flop?

Synopsis of the Film

According to Wikipedia, the film will take place 22 years after the events of the first Jurassic Park film, and will feature an actual dinosaur amusement park just like John Hammond envisioned. Unfortunately, a new dinosaur hybrid (Idominus rex) created using the DNA of several dinosaur species escapes and begins terrorizing the island. It’s up to Owen Grady, played by Chris Pratt, and the security team to put an end to the Idominus rex’s rampage.

My Thoughts?

I like the Jurassic Park series, and I love that they’re reviving the series for the newer generation to enjoy. I remember the first time I saw Jurassic Park I was mesmerized by the massive dinosaurs and how lifelike they looked thanks to the fairly new CGI the animators used back in the day.

Now, several years later, kids these days are used to seeing CGI on the big screen, even in movies that end up being terrible, so will this film have the same effect as its predecessor on this younger generation? Guess we’ll have to wait until June to find out! I’m personally hoping that the film does well and reintroduces the Jurassic Park series to the younger crowd.

What Do You Think?

What are your thoughts on the new Jurassic Park film? Will it succeed like the ones before it or will it end up being a failure? Write your thoughts below!
